Poland 1939 - RELEASED!
Military operations in Poland are considered as the beginning of World War II. It was here that the Germans launched their famous Blitzkrieg. With overwhelming superiority in armored units and air power, the aggressor expected the Polish Army to fall apart under a couple of powerful strikes. However, the campaign was neither easy nor quick. The Poles defended themselves everywhere. Meanwhile, in the east, the Red Army’s attack began on September 17th. The Wehrmacht’s ally attacked the mostly undefended eastern frontiers of the Polish Republic.
Polish forces fought until October 6, when General Kleeberg’s Independent Operational Group „Polesie” surrendered. Hel peninsula continued fighting until October 2, Modlin fortress until September 29, and Warsaw until September 28. Still, thousands of Polish soldiers crossed the Hungarian and Romanian borders to continue fighting against the Germans in France and England.
