Śląsk 1939

€35,00 EUR

Silesia and the entire Lesser Poland played an important role in the September Campaign of 1939. It was expected, as Poland’s most important industrial area, to be a target of the direct attack from the very first day of the war with Germany. To prevent this, a belt of fortifications was built along the border. Two armies were also concentrated in this area: the Carpathian Army and the Kraków Army. Their task was to defend the Polish borders in Silesia and the Carpathians.

On September 1, German troops attacked all sections of the front. It soon became clear that the plan for linear defense of the entire Polish border is unrealistic. The Germans made several breakthroughs and began to outflank Polish positions. Polish reserves were unable to stop these attacks. A hasty retreat to the east began. Fortifications were abandoned, and troops advanced to new positions. Meanwhile, the Germans continued to attack, giving the Poles no respite. They held initiative all the time.

The ŚLĄSK game can be combined with another game from our publishing house - PIOTRKÓW, thanks to which the area of operations is doubled.
